Brown Rice With Spinach And Cilantro

Today I am preparing a very unique dish and that is with brown rice with lot of greens. Brown rice is a nutritious whole grain that delivers fiber and complex carbohydrates and of course spinach is full of nutrients.

I am sure for kids who hate spinach, this dish could be a delightful surprise. So let’s start with this very simple and delicious dish ..

Brown Rice With Spinach And Cilantro

1 Cup brown rice
1 Cup spinach
1 Cup cilantro
1 Teaspoon lemon juice
1 Tablespoon chopped ginger and garlic
1 Tablespoon oil
2.5 Cups water
Salt to taste
  • Wash brown rice in running water for 2-3 times.
  • Wash spinach and cilantro thoroughly in running water and chop them finely.


  • In a deep dish heat oil and add chopped ginger-garlic, spinach, cilantro and salt. Sauté for a minute.
  • Then add the brown rice and mix it well. Add 2.5 cups of water and lemon juice, mix well and cook with the lid on for about 20-30 minutes on a high flame or until the rice is cooked.

Enjoy brown rice with greens along with yogurt,raita or a simple dal.
