Lauki sabzi | Bottle Gourd dry Curry

Lauki takes a special place in the Indian platter due to its health benefits. It also helps for digestion. It is a quick and easy dish prepared for lunch and for dinner. It absolutely goes well with roti and parathas.

1 Medium size chopped lauki (Bottle Gourd)
1 Cup chopped onion
0.5 Cup chopped tomato
2-3 Chopped Green chillies
1 Tablespoon finely chopped ginger and garlic
0.5 Teaspoon cumin seeds
0.5 Teaspoon turmeric powder
0.5 Teaspoon chilli powder
0.5 Teaspoon garam masala powder
1 pinch asafetida (Hing)
1 tablespoon oil
Salt to taste


  1. In the pan heat oil and splutter cumin seeds. Add chopped onions , asafetida and salt. sauté it till it turns golden brown.
  2. Add finely chopped ginger – garlic, green chillies and chopped tomatoes following with dry ingredients turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala powder. Sauté it till the tomatoes are soft.
  3. Now, add lauki and mix well. Close the lid and cook for at least 5-6 minutes. Garnish with cilantro.
