Spicy Potato-Mash Masala

This is a fast and easy to prepare delicious dish. This recipe is a very basic vegetarian dish served with rotis, puris etc. The ingredients used are very basic, available in every home kitchen.

2 cups boiled potatoes
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1 chopped onion
2-3 green chilis
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
0.5 teaspoon garam masala
0.5 teaspoon cumin seeds
0.5 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 tablespoon oil
Salt to taste
Curry leaves


  1. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  2. Add curry leaves, chopped onion, green chilies and salt. Saute it till the onion turns golden brown.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste, chopped tomatoes, chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder. Saute till the tomatoes become soft.
  4. Now, add boiled potatoes and mash it a little.  Add a bit of water. Mix everything well and cover with the lid . Cook for another 10 minutes.
  5. Garnish with Cilantro

Your Spicy Potato Masala is ready to be savoured.
